AI can help explain imaging findings and prepare questions about next steps. But uploading personal health information to a chatbot can feel uncomfortable.
ScanTimeline is being built to put a privacy review before AI assistance: identify and remove personal details on your device, let you check the exact outgoing text, and send only the copy you approve. Your original report stays intact in your encrypted collection.
Check on your device
ScanTimeline will look for identifying details, such as your name, date of birth and medical record number, before report text is sent to an AI service.
Review, edit, then choose
You’ll be able to correct the proposed removals and preview the exact text. Only the reviewed copy will be sent when you choose AI assistance; your account email will stay out of that text.
These safeguards are designed to substantially reduce privacy risk, but cannot eliminate it. Identifying details may be missed or inferred from the remaining text. You’ll also be able to use ScanTimeline without AI, with limited functionality.

A lung nodule or pancreatic cyst may appear in reports written years apart, at different hospitals. We’re building a history for each finding, linked to the original reports, so you can review what changed and what follow-up was documented.
Start with the body view
Select a body region on the avatar to explore its saved findings. The avatar provides a way into your records; it does not show the exact location of a lesion.
Follow the individual finding
Review dated descriptions and measurements alongside their source passages. When reports cannot be confidently linked to the same lesion, the connection stays uncertain.
Keep follow-up with its history
See what the report asked to be followed and what is documented afterward, with your own notes kept separate. An unchanged finding does not mean follow-up is finished; a missing update does not mean you missed care.
PRIVACY, EXPLAINED
What is protected,
and how.
The prototype keeps original reports encrypted locally and demonstrates unlocking with a passphrase or recovery key. We’re building and testing the rest before accepting real records.
What is working today?
The local prototype demonstrates encrypted storage of fictional reports, a body view, source-linked histories and encrypted export. It is not yet available for your own reports.
How are encrypted backup and AI different?
Our planned backup encrypts records before upload, with patient-controlled unlocking. An AI service, by contrast, needs to read the reviewed text it processes. Removing identifying details from that copy is a separate safeguard from storage encryption. Neither cloud feature is active in this prototype.
Could ScanTimeline ever access my information?
The intended storage service receives encrypted records without the unlocking keys. But you still trust the app code that opens records on your device. We cannot promise that every privacy risk is eliminated.
Will it tell me what care I need?
The first version is being built to organize what your reports say, including documented follow-up. It does not diagnose conditions or decide what care you need. The prototype has not been clinically validated.

Radiology reports from different hospitals, in one history.
ScanTimeline is a project by Melina Pectasides, a radiologist. It is being built for people keeping imaging reports across hospitals or imaging centers, especially when a finding appears in more than one report.

Is this for imaging reports or the scans themselves?
The initial app is being built around written radiology reports and the histories of individual findings. The body view is an illustration for navigating records, not a viewer for CT or MRI scan images.
Can I connect my hospital portal or upload reports now?
Not yet. This website accepts waitlist signups only. Report import and hospital-portal connections are not available here. Please do not send medical records through the waitlist or project email.
Can I organize reports without AI?
The planned Free option lets users manually organize reports and finding histories. The planned $49/year option adds AI assistance using a reviewed outgoing copy. Both options are in development; joining the waitlist does not start a paid subscription.
